Inspired by the traditional hacienda atrium, this community space and commercial center in El Tezal, Los Cabos, is designed as a permeable volume wrapped around a central garden. The open courtyard connects all spaces visually while enhancing cross ventilation and thermal comfort. Native Baja California vegetation softens the environment, casting shadows that regulate temperature and shape a sustainable microclimate. A system of foldable panels transforms the building—closing it for protection or unfolding into sunshades that extend the shaded areas, adapting seamlessly to its surroundings.
